I wonder, though, is his privilege just greater than any locus of privilege I've encountered, have I been, in my own privilege, discounting just how powerful privilege really is, or a mix of the two. My guess is a mix, but 10/90 between the former and the latter.
I don't know that Trump's privilege is greater than any heretofore afforded to a U.S. president, but his willingness to take advantage of every last self-serving corner of leverage is something new and it is making the lines of power visible in a way I suspect they haven't been for centuries. His election and now his presidency have demonstrated how much of this country actually ran on custom, not law. I'm just hoping we'll get a chance to put the laws in place before the absence of them kills any more of us.
